Zydot Ultra Clean Shampoo product review

Drug testing is becoming extremely common in the workplace. It is almost impossible to get a new job or keep an old one without submitting to drug tests. Many legal situations such as for probation monitoring also require drug testing. Although the most common type of drug test is a urine screen test, another type of test uses hair samples for analysis. Testing hair samples for drugs can give evidence of drug use up to 90 days before the test but doesn’t tell much about current drug usage because it takes time for drugs in the bloodstream to reach the hair follicles as they grow into actual hair shafts. If you are faced with a hair sample drug test you may want to consider a special shampoo to cleanse drugs from your hair. In this review, we discuss Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo including what it is when to use it, how to use it and why you should use it as well as the all-important question of just how effective it may be in helping you to beat a drug test.

Before we get into Zydot itself, perhaps we should discuss a bit about how the hair test for drugs is done. A sample of your hair including between 100 and 120 separate strands of hair each at least 1.5 inches long will be obtained by a technician, wrapped in tinfoil and placed in a specimen tube to be sent to a lab for testing. See Figure 1.

Figure 1. Hair specimen for drug testing.

Hair typically grows about an inch a month and thus 1.5 inches will allow drugs to be detected which have been used in the past 90 days or three months. Drugs will not be detectable in lab tests of hair samples for about 5-7 days after drug use and therefore hair follicle drug tests are not good to detect current drug usage. Hair follicle drug tests typically are used to detect amphetamines, methamphetamine, ecstasy, marijuana, cocaine, PCP and opiates as well as alcohol. An initial test can determine if the hair sample is positive or negative for drugs. If negative the test Is over and you have passed. If the initial test is positive, then a more specific test called a Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy test is performed to eliminate false-positive tests and to determine details of what drugs are present and in what concentrations.

Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo to pass a drug test. So, what is Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo and could it be a remedy to help you pass a hair test for drugs? Zydot is a shampoo specifically designed for cleansing drugs from your hair. It is a combination of ingredients designed for removal of natural oils as well as other shampoo or hair color products and then detoxing the hair of unwanted toxins and finally to condition the hair. The list of ingredients is extensive.  It includes potassium chloride, polyquaternium-10, polyglyceryl-3 disterate, panthenol, octyl methoxycinnamate, methylparaben, methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydrolyzed wheat protein, guar hydroxypropytrimonium chloride, fragrance, DM hydantoin, distearyldimonium chloride, Cocamidopropyl betaine, cocamide DEA, citric acid, cetanyl alcohol, carbonerceramide 3, caprylic/capric triglyceride, butyl methoxy dibenzoyl methane, avocado oil, aqueous extract of Aloe Vera, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Wheat Amino Acids, Triethanolamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Stearyl Alcohol, Stereth-2, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sodium PCA, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Propylparaben, Propylene Glycol and PPG-10 Cetyl Ether! Wow, that is an amazing list of complicated chemicals and far beyond the scope of this article for an analysis of the effect of each of them or all of them in combination but that list should alert you to the fact that Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo is not like the shampoo that you might purchase at your local drugstore but is instead a combination of strong chemicals designed as a cleanser to remove a whole variety of toxins from your hair.

Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo for THC detox.

When should you use Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo? You should use this product before you are to undergo a hair follicle test for drugs especially cannabis. This product does not cause detoxification of your body from THC or other drugs, and it is useful only for passing a hair drug test and not to pass a urine drug test and not to pass a saliva test or blood or sweat tests for drugs. In addition to using this product to help you pass a hair test for drugs, it is recommended to discontinue the use of drugs such as weed products as far in advance of your being tested as is possible to reduce the continued accumulation of toxins in your hair sample at the time of your test. It is also important to be aware that the hair sample must be 1.5 inches long and if you have short hair on your head, the technician may look for hair from your body or underarm areas so in that case shampooing the hair on your head may not help!

How to use Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo to pass a hair drug test?

It is recommended to repeat this procedure three or four times because studies seem to indicate that one application of the product will remove about 36% of drugs so it may take multiple applications to completely remove most or all of the drugs. The manufacturer states that the effect of the product will only last for 24 hours because after that new toxins can get into your hair so be sure to use the product as close to the time of your hair follicle drug test as you can.

Another approach is to use one of a number of harsh chemical applications to your hair before using Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo such as the so-called Macujo or Jerry G remedies.  These methods employ strong chemicals such as Heinz Vinegar, Clean and Clear an over-the-counter acne treatment product and Tide Liquid Laundry detergent to attempt to attack and open the hair follicles and flush the toxins from within. The Jerry G method also uses bleach, ammonia and baking soda. Both the Macujo and Jerry G methods recommend using a shampoo designed to release toxins as a part of both methods with the final shampoo to be done using Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo.

Where to buy Zydot-ultra-clean-Shampoo? This product is easily available online from Amazon and GNC among others and may be available for in-store purchase at large retailers such as Walmart. Zydot can be found on Amazon for about $15 for a single application but if Zydot is combined with Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo the combined price jumps to an astronomical $165!!

And now comes perhaps the most important question: Does Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo really work? In order to answer that question, there are two sources of information: one is from a single published scientific study and the other is from reviews of the product by actual users.

The scientific study was published in the International Journal of Legal Medicine Volume 113: pages 102-106 published in 2000 and authored by J. Rohrich and colleagues. Although there were fluctuations in concentrations of some of the drugs which this study tested for, there was a consistent decrease of 36% in the concentration of THC in hair samples after a single use of Zydot. The study used the GC/MS method to test for the drugs in hair samples before and after a single use of Zydot. From this study, it would appear that a single use of Zydot is unlikely to detoxify hair samples sufficiently to pass a hair follicle drug test. Multiple uses of Zydot, perhaps combined with the Macujo or Jerry G methods would appear to have a good chance to decrease THC levels below those acceptable for the usual drug testing.

Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo reviews. Reviews of Zydot however, are almost universally enthusiastic about the product however, the occasional negative review can be found as well. Here are some samples of online reviews.

Notice that all of the positive reviews combined the Zydot product with various other forms of the Macujo or Jerry G methods. It appears, based on the one scientific article and the various online reviews, that Zydot alone, especially a single application will not be sufficient to pass a hair follicle drug test but multiple applications, using strict adherence to the manufacturers recommendations for how to use the product found on their website, might allow you to pass the test especially if pot is your main drug of use. Adding some or all of the features of the Macujo or Jerry G methods along with the Zydot product would seem to provide you with a very good chance to pass a hair follicle drug test.

What then are the pros and cons of Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo?

The PROS are that there are many positive online reviews, that a scientific study showed a 36% reduction in THC in hair samples with single applications, that it is not as expensive as some other detox hair products and that it can easily be combined with other methods like Macujo or Jerry G or their variations.

The CONS are that a single applications costs around $15 and almost certainly to successfully pass a hair follicle drug test you will need multiple applications so the cost could get pretty high. Although there are many positive reviews of Zydot, there are some definite negative reviews where the product did not seem to do the job. Although the scientific study did show a 36% reduction in THC there was a much smaller effect on other drugs like cocaine for instance. Nearly all of the positive reviews seemed to be by users of weed products so it seems unclear how effective Zydot maybe for other drugs.

In conclusion, it seems that Zydot-ultra-clean-shampoo is an effective product but that a single application is unlikely to allow you to pass a hair follicle drug test. Multiple applications combined with some or all of the components of the Macujo or Jerry G methods should give you a good chance of passing such a test especially if your drug of choice is marijuana. How effective Zydot maybe for drugs other than THC seems unclear at present.
